Manyeleti
Private Game Reserve

Considered the path less traveled as there are just a few lodging options in the reserve, the Manyeleti private game reserve grants guests a more intimate safari experience with fewer people roaming about.  At times you might feel like you’re the only ones in the reserve – aside from the animals, of course!  Don’t let the fewer number of lodges fool you.  This is a place rich in wildlife, including the Big 5, and shares Kruger National Park‘s western border, just north of the Sabi Sands.  Of course, these shared borders are invisible to animals, as they can roam freely between the reserves.

Manyeleti means “place of stars” in the local Shangaan language.  It has to be named that for a reason, right?  Savor the starry night sky as you wind down after a wonderful day out on safari.  How many constellations can you find?

The Manyeleti is owned by the local Mnisi tribe, which successfully reclaimed this land after the apartheid era.  Today, private lodge owners lease the land from the Mnisi, in turn benefiting the local communities.  The Manyeleti provides communities economic opportunity while providing guests a wonderful and secluded safari experience off the beaten path.

When to Go

May – October

This is the best time to go on safari in South Africa because it’s the dry season which makes wildlife much easier to see due to shorter grass and less-dense vegetation. Also, water is more scarce, and animals are likely to be seen quenching their thirst at waterholes.
